Fender... err... Hood Bender

Today was pretty uneventful, but there was still an accident. It didnt really slow down my commute much. Speeds went from about 80mph to 40mph because of the accident. This time it was on my side of the highway somewhere by Hamden involving a Kia Sephia and a mid 90s Nissan Pathfinder. The Kia rear ended the Pathfinder and the hood of the Kia was pretty badly bent. I tried doing the video capture but at 40mph you really cant get anything good.

My theory on these accidents is that if you're following an SUV (or a truck for that matter) and you're in a car you are not going to be able to see the cars in front it. So you basically end up basing all your reactions to that one SUV or truck directly in front of you. When you are behind another car you can see the cars in front of you and if they start to slow down you can see that and start reacting before you see the tail lights of the car in front of you.
